How often should natural stone be resealed?
There is no single answer. How often natural stone requires cleaning and resealing will depend on the type of stone, its location, exposure to weather, traffic and the sealing system previously applied.
A sheltered internal floor may go years between treatments. An exposed driveway or pool surround will need attention sooner. We assess the surface and advise what it actually needs.
Natural stone is an investment. With the right cleaning, sealing and ongoing maintenance, it can continue looking its best for many years.

Natural stone sealing FAQs
Does sealing make natural stone waterproof?
No. A penetrating sealer reduces absorption and helps water bead and run off, but it is not a waterproofing membrane and should not replace a properly designed waterproofing or drainage system.
How often does natural stone need resealing?
It depends on the stone type, its location, exposure to weather, traffic and the sealing system previously applied. Exposed outdoor surfaces generally need attention more often than sheltered internal floors.
Does sealed stone still need cleaning?
Yes. Sealing reduces how readily contaminants absorb into the stone, but surfaces still collect dirt, and shaded damp areas can still develop mould, algae and moss.
Can existing stains be removed before sealing?
Often, yes. Marks that have absorbed into the surface can frequently be drawn out. Not every mark can be lifted and some etching is permanent, so we assess the surface and tell you what is achievable before starting.
